Every year I have New Year’s resolutions, and like some, they all fall apart come February. So what makes this year any different? For starters, I’m sharing them with the world, and that is one way I am keeping myself accountable.
This year I hope to be more present. Putting down the iPhone and genuinely enjoying the company those of around me. Time goes by so quickly, and these memories and relationships that I nurture and develop will be what I look back on.
Save more money. I have been doing an excellent job of disciplining myself to making my coffee/tea at home opposed to purchasing Starbucks several times a week.
See more of the world. I’m not going to name everywhere I want to go but hoping to make Japan happen this year. I got a Sailor Moon locket over the holidays wish to stand in the middle of Shibuya Crossing, “Moon Crystal Power, Makeup” – one can dream.
Spend more time with my family. As we, the kids grow older, it’s easy to forget that our parents are getting older. Soon, my siblings and I will have families of our own, and we will be devoted to them. I will make an effort to ensure they know that I love them.
Be more positive. For the most part, I’m a realist. However, it doesn’t hurt at times look at things through rose-colored lenses. If anything I feel its sometimes required to get yourself through a desperate situation. I do believe that what you give is what you get, so I hope to keep my grip on reality but keep a positive outlook too.
Do you have New Year’s resolutions? How do you keep yourself accountable? I would love to know about them!
