The Importance of Community

Several years ago I competed in a Sprint and Olympic distance triathlon. The majority of my cycling happened after work; it was easy to bring friends together for a group ride or solo adventures and through this training, I discovered my fondness for cycling. Since then I have been focusing on that discipline. I believe that what continually reaffirms my passion for cycling is the fantastic community that is called Too Soon Junior and the person I have to thank for introducing me to this awesome cycling community is David Tam.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals not only expand your network but also motivate, support and push you to do more, to try harder to get that best time in that Strava segment. Even today I struggle up that mountain or on the flats when the wind is working against you, and although everyone is passing you on the hill they are cheering you on! It’s awesome. It is a beautiful feeling knowing that you are supported where you may be unsure but know you want to try.

In the spirit of reciprocity of introducing me to my lifelong hobby, I got him Rapha socks as a holiday present! In all seriousness, when David shared he would be fundraising for cancer research, I was more than happy to support him. Here’s the link to his profile: matdivadlife

David is a professional wedding photographer in Vancouver, even with my donation he was kind to offer some of his time for a mini photo session. Thank you, David, for doing more and inspiring others that there is always something that you CAN do.

Lastly, while I am not getting engaged or married anytime soon, again no pressure my wonderful boyfriend if you are reading this, David is currently booking for 2018 and 2019 if you are looking for someone that will go above and beyond to get that spectacular shot!
